Is your photographer a Master of Photography (M.Photog)?
When looking at your choice of photographer, are you considering their qualifications among the other usual variables brides consider?
Are you aware of the award system with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography?
Some photographers have completed a formal university course. Others are self taught. Some have been mentored by established Masters. In our opinion, the best way to validate the experience and current talent of your photographer, is to look at their awards. Specifically, the awards they have achieved with the Australian Institute of Professional Photography. These accolades are achieved at the Australian Professional Photography Awards.
Every year, Australia’a most respected professionals enter four of their best images to be judged by an expert panel of their peers. These images are printed and mounted according to strict guidelines. The printing technique is just as important as the image itself. All factors are considered when awarding prints. Camera techniques are just the first aspect to be considered. Creativity, printing technique, choice of paper and imagination are all equally important to a successful award print.
This is a very tough process, with only the top 20% of professional entries being awarded. With awards come merit points, and these points are collated over the years to achieve specific honours with the institute.
